Unique Cast Glass Paperweights
Unique Cast Glass Paperweights
Class Description
This class will focus on creating a one-of-a-kind cast glass paperweight with a “lost-clay” method. Students will sculpt a simple shape out of clay, then create a single-use mold out of a special heat-resistant plaster. After determining the volume of the mold, we’ll measure and fill the mold with crushed, castable glass. The pieces will then be fired in a kiln. We’ll also learn some fascinating facts about the science of glass in the process.
What to Bring
N100 respirator mask (optional, but helpful)
